Strange Audio DSP releases maniFold Ω: a hybrid micro-looper + all-pass delay cluster for real-time textures

A texture engine disguised as a “plugin effect”

maniFold Ω (Omega) from Strange Audio DSP is aimed squarely at producers and sound designers who want movement more than “clean processing.” It’s a hybrid processor that combines two ideas that play extremely well together: micro-looping (for granular-ish motion) and a dense delay network (for space and smear).

maniFold Ω: micro-looping + dense delay structure, designed for evolving sound design.

Core architecture (what it’s actually doing)

  • 8-playhead micro-looper: samples a rolling 5-second buffer and plays it back with randomized position, length, panning, and speed.
  • Pitch movement: per-head pitch shifting up to ±12 semitones for drifting harmonic texture.
  • Freeze/lock: capture a moment, then sculpt it as raw material.
  • 32 delay lines: a cluster of all-pass filtered delays (not a standard clean delay), controllable via base delay time + spread.
  • Recirculation: feedback inside the network for dense, evolving washes (reverb-adjacent behavior).

Use-case: feed vocals, guitars, or field recordings and let the buffer evolve into an ambient bed.

Specs producers care about

  • Formats: VST3 and AU.
  • OS: requires macOS 10.15+; also targets modern Windows builds (older OS versions may not be supported).
  • Pricing: distributed as a free / name-your-price style download (check the official listing).
